Designer Vignette: Megan Bennett

A Moroccan Inspired Vignette by Megan Bennett

After winning the opportunity to design a vignette in our BC Showroom, Interior Designer, Megan Bennett, had fun expressing her personal style through her design, which drew inspiration from her travels to Morocco.

Meet Megan Bennett

Megan Bennett RID, has been involved in the design industry for more than 20 years. Megan is also the current President of the IDIBC (Interior Designer’s Institute of British Columbia) and is actively involved in improving standards and promoting education within the BC design industry.

The "Design a Vignette" Contest

We ran a contest on Instagram to give two interior designers the opportunity to let their creativity run wild as they designed a vignette in our BC showroom. Each designer began with the blank canvas of an empty room with white walls.

The designers furnished their vignettes with custom upholstered furniture, handcrafted by our team in South Surrey, BC. With hundreds of styles and fabrics to choose from, the designers were given the freedom to create the perfect custom furniture for their design vision. They also selected furniture such as coffee tables, side tables and mirrors from our global collection, The Goods

Both designers decided to include paintings created by some of the local artists whose artwork we display in our BC Showroom. They also received a budget to purchase additional artwork and décor items from wherever they chose, to complete their desired aesthetic.

Megan's Moroccan Inspired Vignette

Megan’s love of culture and worldly interiors is reflected in her vignette's nod to Moroccan design. Adding unexpected painted archways, traditional Moroccan wedding blankets, and combining it all with contemporary art gives the space a collected, layered feeling. Making the space comfortable with a deep, luxurious sofa was as important as making it beautiful. Megan believes that a properly designed room should be a reflection of the home owners own taste and sense of beauty, while still being practical and suitable.

Working with Megan

Unlike our other contest winner, Melissa Hardwick, who had not previously worked with Van Gogh Designs before, Megan Bennett is a long term customer. She has worked with us countless times over the past two decades. It was particularly fun and exciting to create furniture for her designs on HGTV's "Love it or List it Vancouver" and "Worst to First". Megan is an absolute pro at choosing fabrics and customizing our furniture to create the perfect pieces for her clients' homes. Full of energy and creative ideas, it's clear that Megan is passionate about interior design. We always enjoy seeing Megan's smiling face when she comes by our BC showroom to check out our latest styles and fabrics. We look forward to continuing to work with Megan in the future, as she creates more gorgeous designs!
